Here's the newest in event news with Kompass partner, Global Chamber!

World Korean Business Convention

For the first time, the World Korea Business Convention (WKBC) will be held outside Korea, Oct 11-14 in Anaheim, CA.

Previously known as “Hansang”, the World Korean Business Convention (WKBC) kicked off in 2002 with about 968 participants from more than 28 countries. Thereafter, the Convention grew each year to become the biggest Korean business convention in the world, averaging approximately 3000 participants from about 60 countries each year. For the past 20 years, the Convention has played a pivotal role in lifting small to mid-sized Korean businesses into the global marketplace and bridging interactions between domestic and overseas Korean businesses.

Global Chamber is pleased and proud to support this event, including bringing targeted leaders and companies to meetup strategically with 50 companies from South Korea that are looking to connect and grow. WKBC will be held from October 11, 2023 (Wed) through October 14, 2023 (Sat) at Anaheim Convention Center. Register to join here.

Background

Through K-pop, K-food, K-drama, and K-movies, the world has already experienced the effects of the creative minds of Korean entrepreneurs. The World Korean Business Convention will further ride this K-wave in hopes of leaving a lasting mark, here in Orange County and throughout the USA. The Overseas Koreans Agency (“OKA”), an affiliate of Korean Foreign Ministry has launched WKBC, together with Overseas Koreans Economic Organizations (“OKEO”).   The 21st WKBC, being held in the US for the first time, will also be co-hosted by the Korean American Chamber of Commerce of USA (“KACCUSA”), through its local Orange County affiliate, Korean American Chamber of Commerce of Orange County (“KACCOC”). The Convention has been held annually in South Korea since 2002 to 2022. On its 21st year, WKBC will be held outside of Korea for the first time, starting with California, USA. As WKBC ventures outside Korea, it hopes to stamp its impact abroad and facilitate dialogue with non-Korean businesses.

Anyone interested in Korean businesses are welcome!  Those include booth vendors, sponsors, businesses desiring match-making, government entities, nonprofits, and people who just want to observe and/or learn. It’s unknown when WKBC will be held in Southern California again.  Everyone in the US should take advantage and not miss out.

Globinar FDI in Africa: Seizing the Opportunities

Join Global Chamber and Fingar Direct Investment, for a Globinar on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 8am PT/ 11am ET.

International interest in investing in Africa is gathering momentum, spurred by the continent’s vast untapped potential in sectors such as agribusiness and renewable energy combined with drives by national governments to boost manufacturing capacity and technological prowess.

Africa’s future as a destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) is being rewritten and African countries are seeking to position themselves in the fast-changing global value chains.

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is set to improve intra-regional connectivity and open up new trade and investment opportunities.

How are investors currently viewing Africa? Where do they see most potential, and what are the remaining barriers? How are local players maximising Africa’s moment in the FDI spotlight?

We’re bringing together international and African business leaders to answer these questions. And we’ll also be sharing an overview of the best investment conferences for Africa.
